Shebana Coelho is an award-winning filmmaker, writer and radio producer who received a 2007 US Fulbright Research Award to Mongolia. Her TV and radio documentaries have been broadcast on American Public Television (PBS), National Public Radio (NPR), the Discovery Channel and BBC Radio Four. Her website is www.shebanacoelho.com
She will present excerpts from On the Move in Mongolia, sound portraits of Mongolian women and other multimedia recorded in the Mongolian countryside. On the Move in Mongolia was produced for Outer Voices (www.outervoices.org) which showcases the seldom-heard voices of women the world-over working for peace and preservation of cultural wisdom. The documentary received post-production funding from The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation and The Lucius & Eva Eastman Fund.
This presentation is part of a lecture series co-organized by the Mongolian Cultural Center (MCC)
Based in Arlington, VA, the mission of the MCC is to serve as a focal point for greater understanding and promotion of Mongolia, its culture, language, history, art, music, and literature among the new generation of Mongolian-Americans and our American friends interested in Mongolia.
