Who We Are

YOUR FACILITATOR

(Founder of Faraway is Close, Your Voice as Catalyst)

I’m a performance artist, writer and facilitator of workshops. Originally from India, once based in New Mexico, now in Spain. My work is about playing with fear & freedom and healing through writing & movement ~ all to express what has kept us silent and what wants to speak. I've facilitated workshops for over 10 years with all kinds of populations, theater students in Palestine, family caregivers in American Samoa, activists in Mongolia.

  • The heart of my work is what I call Faraway is Close: the phrase came from my year with nomadic communities in Mongolia, it expresses the feeling of: you know that culture you think is so far away and different from you? you have more in common that you could imagine. Or “you know that creativity and nourishment that you think is so far away from you? it’s closer than you think, here under the skin and emerges when you are together in a nurturing environment with like minded spirits”

    Faraway is Close

experience that connect us not only to different cultures and communities but also to what feels distant/different within us, to awaken the creativity and nourishment that is natural to our way of being

    Faraway is Close

resonant cross cultural experiences that dissolve borders that keep us from our connection to story, land and each other.

  • My facilitation modality "Faraway is Close" has grown out of my origins in India, and my travels in remote and visceral landscapes like Mongolia, Tierra del Fuego, Peru, Bolivia, Ireland, Spain.

Faraway is Close is an organic interweaving teaching modality that is rooted in the language of the senses, that is playful, and profound, that is made up of guided visualizations that invoke nature scapes, meditations, body movements and gestures inspired by traditions I have studied such as flamenco, Indian dance, the ancient Sansrkirt treatise on drama, the Natyashastra, Theater of the Oppressed and readings and exercises that deepen our connection to a felt body sense.

Its cadence suggests you to take a rest in your journey. Take a break, take a deep breath and connect with your body, with your inside, with the things you have to say, and the things you want for yourself. By using different massage techniques, Zahorí induces you to the stillness, takes you to a space where you can glimpse your own light, where you can relax, rest and take a new stage with renewed energies.
