1. The first step into flamenco

The minute I stepped into a flamenco class, it felt like a homecoming and also a baptism of fire and sky. The minute I stepped onto the stage, performing the dance, I felt I was responding to a deep calling. Since 2010, I've been studying and performing flamenco in New Mexico and Spain with teachers such as Charo Shaffer-Perez, Juan Siddi, Teo Morca, Mina Fajardo, Entreflamenco, Alice Blumenfeld/Abrepaso Flamenco.  I've performed at group student performances, special events such as Spanish Market, Museum of Spanish Colonial Arts, many private events, and also as part of Teatro Paraguas' Dos Patrias: La Poesía de Cuba. I've studied in Spain, in Jerez, Sevilla and Cadiz with Chiqui de Jerez, Diego de la Margara, Manuela Carpio, Lydia Cabello, Jesus Fuentes, Coral de Los Reyes and Javier Heredia. For me, flamenco is a way to fully express myself in dance and song, movement and feeling.
