2. when the stars trembled

One day in 2012, I heard a Hispanic storyteller named Nasario García tell stories about his abuela, his grandmother who lived besides a river in an isolated valley, the Río Puerco. I saw the stories as a play. Nasario agreed. I adapted his first book of oral histories into a play called “When the Stars Trembled in Río Puerco.” It was the first play I wrote, co-produced and directed. It opened to full houses and great reviews at Teatro Paraguas in Santa Fe (April 2014) and in an Albuquerque at the National Hispanic Cultural Center as part of the Latino theater festival Siembra (September 2014).
